#NYCInterns Breakfast

What do you value most in a public relations internship experience?

PR internships provide invaluable real-world experience, the ability to learn directly from experienced professionals in the field and a day-to-day snapshot of this fast-paced industry.

”The people I work with and what they can teach me. Real world experience.”

What role does social media play in your PR internship?

Social media plays a huge role in my PR internship experience. Digital platforms are fantastic research tools for learning more about agencies, brands and publications. When interns are given the opportunity to create content for social media platforms, we learn to fine-tune digital writing skills and strategically think about how people consume and engage with online content.

”Social media plays a huge role in my internship. I’m able to have access to all my clients accounts and get to see what they post on a day to day basis.”

What attracts you to a potential employer?

I’m most interested in the vibe of the company. Is the company culture fun? Am I compatible with employees? It’s important to enjoy where you work!

”The vibe of the company.”

As you near graduation and job searching, what are you most scared of?

It’s daunting to determine which post-grad path is the ”right” one. Obviously this knowledge comes with experience, but it doesn’t make the decision process any easier.

”I don’t want to end up doing something I don’t like. That fear of: is this the right path I’m going down and is this really what I want to do? Which is hard because you don’t know until you experience it.”

Where do you see yourself in two years?

I hope to still feel passionate and challenged at my job in two years. I want to accomplish many different things throughout my career and hope this first stepping stone leads to more opportunity.

”In two years I see myself at a job that I’m really passionate about. I want to do so many different things in my life, who knows what the future will bring.”
